After cluttering my profile with painted shoes of questionable quality, I wanted to make room for what I truly love to do. This is my first full scale illustration in a long time, and yet again it turned out to be a fan art piece. My next project will be original, I swear. But what's done is done, and I'm pretty jazzed about the result.
I will only say one thing about the process at this time, and it is that the lighting for all this just about killed me. I've never done anything so heavily backlit, and try as I might I'm just no good at finding references. Would this painting have been a lot better with a decent reference? Hmm, probably. But it was some wicked hands on practice with realistic lighting having to draw all this from my imagination. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Edit: Adjusted the compositing. Is it still too dark guys? My monitor might be screwing with the brightness so I cant tell.
