with the texturing on the Enfield turning out so well, i went back to the U.S.S. Ethalion, an Akura-class variant that i built about two years ago. this was before i dived into Mental Ray, and after just replacing a couple Maya-blinns, the difference was startling. so i've replaced pretty well all of the blinns and phongs to mi_materials.
so i've spent the last few days replacing all of the old texture assignments, and in some cases, going back to the initial Photoshop files to do some repainting.
even in the last couple days, i've gone in there and rebuilt some of the meshes, in particular the nacelles. to be honest, i just cribbed them from the Beagle, and it was kind of scary how something a few years ago seemed to be just fine, but now makes me cringe.
think i'll just finish this off, re-render a turntable, and then go back to the Enfield.
