Both, I love to paint from real life, but I love photos because you have the ability to see your work in so many different types of light. I feel that's key to good work, especially when it will be seen in varied light sources at different times.

this is beautiful, i love the colour selection and the way you've painted the sea and the dock, it's all painted very well. It gives me a cool, relaxed feeling, it's great!!!

Thanks very much! It is done from a photo of one of my fondest places and it is on a lake. I am also very pleased with the results on this one and will be sad to part with it. Guess I can visit it though,
