He's Sith. I thought about giving him a blaster for a minute to make him look more ambiguous , but decided on the saber because of the scene on the ice with Elsa and Anna. And because Hans would make a very good Sith Lord.

I don't see why not. I think redemption/personal growth is possible for anyone if they choose to find it.
