The third drawing in the "Marionette" series.

This time I drew a pose from another one of my favourite ballets: "Le Lac des Cygnes" or "Swan lake".

This would probably be one of the last chapter covers since we see Mariette truly on her own doing a "pas de deux" (like a duet for ballet) on her own as a "pas de un".

As you can see, the strings are still there, just look for their shadow. I'm kind of sad she still has them at this point but my very last "Marionette" drawing will show my little darling free!!

I chose to draw Mariette here since she DID win the popularity poll, although I will admit that I love Helene as much as I love Mariette. They're different but their goal is the same: to break free, no strings attached, although Mariette's strings are a little more litteral.

If you want to listen to the music she's dancing to, it's (I think) "Scene from Swan Lake" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The pose is from the choreagraphy by Petipa.

A last comment before I wrap this up: I noticed lately that whatever ballet I place my characters in, they always seem to relate to its main character one way or another. In this case, Odette (from "Swan Lake") was betrayed by her lover and Mariette is as well, although with different circumstances. More details when the story comes.
