Fleetwood Mac is a good band. 'Rhiannon' is a good song. Decided to use Lilou for this since she's the closest character I have to a witch.

I hate hippies.

That sounds like a cliché phrase, but it's true to an extent. And it isn't because I hate ideas like free love or world peace and stuff, but because I think hippies in general are a bunch of disingenuous lazy pricks that put very little effort and labor into the causes they supposedly support. Many of them are intellectually shallow potheads that believe that because they can quote the occasional Zen priest, they are 'deep'. They like to give off the pretense that they have come to some sort of enlightenment based off of a wishy-washy spirituality that they're willing to throw away when it's no longer useful to them. Plus, they usually believe that they know better than everybody else, despite knowing very little in general.

Tom Robbins is the embodiment of such a culture.

Now, in the couple of months, I've been trying to tone down my hatred of this culture, mainly because I do think there are some good things in it. For instance, I discovered John Varley, an underrated sci-fi writer who wrote a trippy but memorable collection of short stories called 'The Persistence of Vision'. If anybody deserves the attention that Tom Robbins so unrightfully gets, it's Varley, who can actually take themes prevalent in hippie culture (free love, communes, two beings becoming one, transcendence and down-and-dirty sex) and actually make intelligent stories out of them with likable characters and decent pacing.

So, since reading 'Vision', I've been at least somewhat more interested in trippy stuff. So I decided to start a gallery with this theme in mind.
