Wow, those drawings are freaking amazing! (at least compared to my anatomy lol) Are you a dancer, too, or just an artist? I hesitate to use the word "just", because it implies that an artist is nothing to be proud of....but.....y'know. Language is hard do sometimes the yes when brain work the words not do right.

I especially like the one on the lower right. It's very dynamic and I like the length of the pose. ^^

Thank you so much!! IT HAS crossed my mind to do a short animation for fun. I would LOVE to do it, if I could get my hands on a good, easy to use animation computer program. >_<///

you don't perhaps know a good product??

Some of the poses have anatomy issues but I still like it (and I only noticed the anatomy stuff because I have been a ballet dancer for 12 years)

i am totally with you! ^_~ I am really sensative to cricitisms, but i can totally agree with you there! Ballet dancer for 12 years!!! wow! I have only started learning for about a year or so, less than a year, and how instense it is with all the parts of the body! Ballet is still a favorite subject for me to draw~

^.^ I suggest trying to find someone to model for you that has dance experience because otherwise It's really hard to do. Unless you've done it yourself xD

I try to do quick sketches in my ballet class when chances come up, so far, my models keep moving. ha ha ha. Must keep at it, I suppose. Thanks for the tip~

guys are easy... their just really bulky girls ^_^

love ballet ^_^ something about a woman in pointe shoes sends a shiver down my spine wish I had learned some kind of dance... now im all fat and old

hbanana7 In reply to silverdragonrs [2007-07-01 17:47:21 +0000 UTC]

so it's true!! The whole population of women trying to get skinnier every year is really not to please the guys!!Although the "bulk" must be in the right area.

I am too old to ever be a primadonna, but, by watching countless videos and attending as many dance theatres, I can vicariously enjoy the stage, and the energy of the performance.

The point shoes have always been a girly dream of mine. ^_^ The art of the human body is just too amazing. We artists can only mimic what has already been created.

I agree the artistic flow and beauty of the human body is magnificent. But find the concept of art simply mimicking reality unsettling. It is simply not true.. close but not entirely.

as for the "Guys are easy.. their just bulky girls" remark.. i meant they are easy to draw... just draw a woman.. remove the breast and add some muscle.... easy

makes me want to take ballet lessons -_-; I bet it would help me with figure drawing and anatomy too!

hbanana7 In reply to Kikane [2006-06-22 07:48:46 +0000 UTC]

I highly recommend it. It is more fun than regular exercise~and you get to wear leotards. Drawing dancers really helped me with anatomy and motion. I tend to avoid drawing men, but drawing male dancer is a lot of fun too. Just pick up a dance magazine and practice with your favorite photo! You will then get to make up your own dance outfits and movements! So much fun@!

The Great Pas De Deux DVD is my current most helpful textbook for figuredrawing. I have to do it fast and lose. Although I have more fun drawing female figures, I am making myself do more males. As you know, in ballet, the male dancers have to wear tights, and it really helps. My next agendy is to get the FORM, not just the lines.

Hey, some of these figures actually have real weight behind them! The way the figures interact are convincing, too.
