-Random thing I thought of in the middle of the night-

At some point after they start dating, Harley finds out about the gruesome details of Gaara's extraction/death and how brutal it was, and it kinda destroyed her. She sobbed and threw up for hours. Gaara felt so bad and just held her; it was all he could do.

Later on, after she had time to digest everything and cool down, Gaara set out to find her a small gift that might cheer her up; being the precious boi that he is. He returned and surprised her with this stuffed eagle, explaining how they represent protection, and how she could hold onto it and feel safe even during times when he can't physically be there with her. And that she could trust that he's safe too.

She then proceeded to glomp him.

And then named the eagle Xerxes.

Over time she learns to trust him and his strength more and not be so paranoid about his safety, but lbr, it was a tough adjustment, coming from a different country and culture where shinobi don't exist.
