Rofl It'll probably be another year or two before we figure out; it may not seem like it, but Naruto is a really slow moving manga.
I'm sure you've heard of the MadaraObito Theory where it is Obito in body and spirit, but he's roomin' with Madara for power/life or something.
I'm actually starting to think that it may be Tobirama Senju (the second Hokage), given the fact his name is Tobi, he is known to joke around in battle but still be a formidable opponent. It seems to make sense to me given Tobi's seemingly bipolar personality. C: Just food for thought.

yeah, you're right. i never figured it out until now O_O but now i think of it, it's an logic theory you have! =O i just heard that tobi is madara and madara could only live for so long 'cause of his enormous chakra and he used an jutsu to get his spirit into obito's body! just like orochimaru's jutsu technique! but i never heard of your theory but it sounds completly logic to me
