I've been there and at no time did I have an idea of WHERE I was in it, as the guide took us around - not even how the house looked from outside.
Sarah was deranged, likely from losing her whole family in such a short period of time.

An alternate, less fanciful explanation for Sarah Winchester's never- ending project; it is well documented that she suffered horrendous grief and deep depression over the deaths of her child and husband (which were 15 years apart, btw, not coincidental as some accounts suggest) and it has been suggested that her "treatment" for this depression was to continually build, tear down and rebuild her house for 38 years. Basically a never ceasing hobby to keep her mind off just how miserable she was. When you have $20,000,000 net worth and make $1,000 per day in a time when a large family house could be built for less than $1000, money is quite literally no object.

I think this house was a product of gullibility, overreactions, insanity, an obsession on an extremely unlucky number, and ignorance.

I've been there it was nice. they say that they have checked the stairway leading to nowhere for trap doors or something, But I've knocked on it and it was hollow, Have they not simply tried busting it open? Duh kinda?

yeah its a really neat place. hmm, i wonder if they really have checked the stairway to nowhere...that'd be an interesting thing to find out. they may just say they have but actually, they might not have.

i dont think any group of people would want to waste money on breaking open something like that and pay the new owner back for the damage though.

it really is. It's even more amazing in person. The picture really doesn't do it justice.
