Description "Jim, Bennett's High Island"
2008
Oil On Canvas
30"x40"

This is a painting for the Newfoundland show next November. I wanted to submit at least one or two, so that you could see what I've been up to lately as I have to keep most of the paintings under wraps until the opening.

I liked how Jim's figure created a little curve as he walked and knew I had to paint him.

lovely picture
although... while i understand the need to watermark your work, maybe it would be better without the giant dA watermark over it, but with your own watermark, since when you zoom in for a better look, you lose all the lovely detail of your painting.

I absolutely love how you paint and how you handle your brush. I've been collecting your paintings online and pour over them often. Have you always painted this way? How did you develop into this? Or was this always your method of mark-making?

Thanks Feathers! My technique is strongly influenced by Lucian Freud, the compositions by Andrew Wyeth...they are my two strongest influences Thank-you for collecting my work virtually and for your kind feedback
