One of the reasons why I've been absent for so long:I've finally watched all episodes of Game of Thrones season 1 (unfortunately not in German tv yet) and started reading the Song of Fire and Ice book two because I was so curious how it would go on.
So when I started doodling a face a few days ago I knew I would turn it in something more fantasy-like
She's a little bit inspired by Sansa Stark from GoT, but I didn't mean to portray her. That's why I gave her another name. Clothes are inspired by some Renaissance paintings.No direct reference for her, but a few photographs of different faces that helped me with the lighting. The background contains overpainted textures from my own photographs. Lazy background, I know. But want to move on to other paintings.
Painted in Photoshop, AzPainter, Mypaint. About a day of work. Will probably revise this one soon. I'm still not happy with some parts, but pretty proud of the face.
Edit 10-07-11: Improved the eyes a little with the help of the wonderful *crayonmaniac

The intensity and intelligence in her face say she's no-one to be trifled with. It's so wonderful to see a portrait of a formidable female who doesn't need a great deal of accoutrement to convey that; the choice of Renaissance robes for her is perfect. And her eyes are perfect in apposition to her name: This is a woman who sees far, indeed.

You know when I just took a look at this pic it reminded me of Kat Stark! And then I read that you was inspired by her daughter

Wasn't Gullveig the goddess who was once in chains? I like that name for her, because her gaze is so steady and strong. I really like the simplicity of her clothing. Her face and skin are excellently rendered. I think this work is all the better for being more than yet another Game of Thrones fan art piece.
