My little sister and I went out yesterday to take some photos, here is the result

and btw, the focus is MENT to be on the hair, I did it on purpose.

Ex-po-zure's Advanced Photography 101 class

1. Taken Indoors/Outdoors:
- Outdoors, on the beach because I was looking for a place with some extra wind.

2. Weather conditions in detail, ie; sunny, cloudy, windy etc.
- It was a lot of wind, this photo was taken in the hour I call “the golden hour” the time of the day when the sun gives a gold-ish light. But it doesn’t really matter, because the portrait is b&w.

3. Time of Day
- Around 8:40 PM.

4. Equipment used:
- Nikon D80 with a 18-70 mm lens.

5. Camera Settings, ie: Manual, A, S, P and the exif data included.
- Used the A function, as photographing my little sister is hard work, because she refuses to stand still for more than two seconds. Don’t waste a good portrait with being stubborn and use the more “controlling” mode Manual. Because then you’ll end up with around 0 good ones. I also shot with RAW here.

6. Post processing in detail.
- For the post processing I used Adobe Photoshop CS3, but I’m sure most of the adobe series can do the same.

- First I did some basic changes in the RAW processing.
- New adjustment layer > black & white, kept the basic settings.
- New adjustment layer > Selective color > blacks:
Cyan: 100
Magenta: 100
Yellow: 100
Black: +20

- New adjustment layer > Selective color > blacks:
Cyan: +2
Magenta: +22
Yellow: +2
Black: +6

- New adjustment layer > brightness/contrast > contrast: +12
- New adjustment layer > Curves > Input: 174, Output: 211.
- Changed the size to 800 x 536 px
- Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp mask > Amount: 20, Radius: 1,0, Threshold: 0

Post processing took me about 15 minutes.
