Description ~ Sworn in Blood ~

Fourth task for 's project! I teamed up with and I illustrated the greatest dream of her character Isil.
______________________________________________________________________________________

Isillien is a Sigelian ranger who sets out on a quest to learn the truth about her father's death and avenge it. Hence her bloody dream! In my illustration, she has found the one responsible for the deed and has taken revenge on him. (I know the fallen body seems to belong to a dwarf, which wasn't exactly my intention  ... But I didn't ask for spoilers from the author, so as far as I know, it could be a dwarf * disclaimer * )

I had fun with this one because the theme allowed me to do something more symbolic than for the other tasks. So I did the graphite black and red pencil combination that I had been planning for a long time to try again (like in this older illustration of mine: Ko Min Ho ) and because it was a nice change to portray a fierce and beautiful woman warrior considering that most of my OCs are guys And because of all the blood!

Media: graphite and red pencil

Wow this looks awesome! And you got it done so freaking fast! Major kudos to you!!!

I love the minimalistic use of color here, and the fierce and foreboding feelings you get from it. Amazing!

Same! I always love this task, it's such a cool opportunity to peek inside everyone's oc's heads and discover what they want most in the world.

Yes, I thought red would be best colour to suggest revenge. Thank you!

GOSH I love it so much! I love the use of red you've put in and how it's so striking. You definitely portrayed her revenge and blind rage really well. The look in her eyes is frightening indeed! I love how you did the red clouds and such!

Thank yooou! I'm glad you like it so much! I hadn't added a touch of art nouveau to my drawings in a while and was in the mood for something like that, and this kind of character surely suits my style. And the bloodspatters were really fun to add, I have to use this idea to portray one my own characters too (maybe Yngvar, on a "blood-soaked" page ).

She's so goddamn beautiful. Thank you so much! I can't stop squeaking from excitment!    You've done justice to her features and expression, and the armor is so detailed, and the random evil guy so deadly dead!
I also love the colour scheme, it accentuates her thirst for revenge and blind rage so well. The way you composed her figure makes me think rather you made her bigger on purpose, making her look like some damn triumphant goddess of rightful revenge. The small conifers only add to that impression.
I'm speechless, I don't think I'm going to sleep today from excitment. Hope you will be just as pleased with my part!

Just two things to explain - there are no dwarves in terms of race in Isil's world, but dwarfism as a disease can happen like anywhere. So poor guy could have been a dwarf And Isil is half-Sigelian to be precise. It's not the Sigelian part that craves for revenge Gonna elaborate on that in some another task, maybe in Anger.

HelevornArt In reply to SpaceCastaway [2016-07-10 22:24:11 +0000 UTC]

Hah I'm glad you like it so much! I like the idea of the revenge goddess! You're right about the dwarves, so it's not so bad then :rofl Ah I see, so the human part is more bloody... By the way, does the world have a name? Or the story on the whole? (so I can enrich the description)

Can't wait to see your drawing for this task too And yea, the next tasks are going to be really exciting!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SpaceCastaway In reply to HelevornArt [2016-07-10 22:47:15 +0000 UTC]

You bet I do!
The other part isn't human too I haven't introduced the race her father comes from yet, gotta do in the setting guide.
The world doesn't have a name, it's simply the world for them. I call it "world beyond the horizon" to have a name to refer to, because humans of this world call this way their afterlife. But it's not anything official and I guess I'm not going to have an official name for it unless I need to (suppose that moment is approaching ). It's just the problem with made-up worlds and their languages - I try not to introduce too many weird words. You have billions of dialects on Earth and everyone has their own word for Earth, you use the one(s) you understand. I think my folks might call their planet "Mother" or some other versatile term. Continents do have names on the other hand.
As for the name of the story, I guess I'm going to name it once I have it written. Or at least the whole plot close to the end. (It's another way to admit I'm a fail when it comes to titles for my stories).

HelevornArt In reply to SpaceCastaway [2016-07-11 08:03:42 +0000 UTC]

Ah I see (I was under the impression she was half-human )

That makes total sense about the world, it's all the more realistic. And don't worry about the title, I kept the "working title" for my novel for 6 years until I wrote the last chapter of it, and only then realized that "Sons of Disobedience" would be a cooler name than the original one (which was "Trail of the Wolves")

SpaceCastaway In reply to HelevornArt [2016-07-11 11:21:18 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, we like to assume some things as obvious sometimes It all depends on your definition of human actually, but biologically she's not the same species as homo sapiens.
Oh, I like "Sons of Disobedience" better than "Trail of the Wolves", so it sounds a good change to me! It prompts much more interesting story. Hope I can come up with just as satisfying name in my time

What a beautiful art-work!

And what a suprise. "Dream" task has random draw. Since you've been drawing already I shouldn't take you in the random draw for fourth task, should I?

SpaceCastaway In reply to Akaszik [2016-07-10 22:01:56 +0000 UTC]

Awww, I thought we can find a partner by ourselves so we paired up in advance to save time for drawing T_____T
I'm so sorry! Should have checked it in our agenda first  It won't happen again, I promise!

Akaszik In reply to SpaceCastaway [2016-07-11 13:32:19 +0000 UTC]

But I want it to happen in task sixth "Enjoyment", when we will look for a partner whose OC matches our OC's hobby!

SpaceCastaway In reply to Akaszik [2016-07-11 15:08:21 +0000 UTC]

As you command And once again sorry

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

HelevornArt In reply to Akaszik [2016-07-10 21:31:13 +0000 UTC]

AH it's random? Ouch... I guess we both I and Ithilloth understood that we could pair with whomever we wanted I guess I won't participate in the random draw then, since it would take a long time for me to draw another character for someone else, so this will be my entry for this task. Hope it's not a problem!

And thank you, glad you like it!

It's part of Ithilloth  's story which she has illustrated a lot until now, but it's not complete. I only enjoyed doing this one revenge-themed piece ^^
