+Intelligent: Ludwig is quite studious, and spends a great deal of his time reading. He tries to have at least a small amount of knowledge in most subjects.
+Modest: Despite any achievements he may make, Ludwig has no interest in becoming famous or popular, instead acting on his own interest. He's very passionate about what he does, but often doubts himself and his abilities.

History
Ludwig was born in Orbis to a small family of foreign merchants. When he was about 7 years old, they moved to Abyssus in hopes of finding a larger trade and an opportunity to set up shop. From an early age, Ludwig had little interest in helping out - opting instead to hole himself up in his room and bury himself in a book, much to the chagrin of his parents. Nevertheless, they sent him to school where he quickly rose to the top of his class. This, of course, coupled with his strange pigmentation, made him a prime target for bullies. (He sneeringly jokes that "Birdshit" was his favorite nickname.) He spent many free periods in the library and developed a friendship with the librarian working there. She taught him the ropes and inspired him throughout his life as a student.

Soon after becoming a full-fledged adult, he grew tired of the noise and bustle of the big city, kissed his parents goodbye and bought a one-way ticket to Solstead. He believes it is impossible to know everything, and hopes that moving to Solstead will present him with new opportunities to learn and discover. And also a quiet place to read.
