*Any other choice will lead to despair.
Instead of becoming a crazed loner, or a mother figure with a yandere-like obsession, Toriel chooses the path of militant resistance and vows to protect any human coming into the Underground from Asgore. Due to constant assailment from Asgore's forces, Toriel must fight day and night to keep her haven safe, or at least, safer than the rest of the Underground, for humans. She, like many others, no longer sees Asgore as a monster, and believes that he has become someone, or something else entirely. Due to this, she will go to extreme lengths, including fearmongering, verbal assault and even physical punishment to prevent any human from leaving the Ruins, or even staying outside her watch. She's not abusive, or at least, she doesn't want to be, she's just desperate, desperate and afraid of what that 'Thing' might do if It gets enough souls.
