This is my entry for jhasthedeathnote ‘s character contest. If you haven’t seen it yet then I recommend you check it out.

His name is Inspector Charles Mutt. Why is he a dog you may ask? Well, I’ve always had an interest in anthropomorphic animals, and recently I’ve been observing the furry fandom and it’s artwork. I guess it just sort of put me in the mood to draw an anthro character. Originally, he was actually going to be human, but then I asked myself, ‘why not make him a bearded dog?’, and so I did.
Since he is a silly anthropomorphic Inspector dog character, I wanted him to have a rather cartoony lighthearted look, and it worked out pretty well. He’s a lot brighter and cleaner than my usual drawings, since they tend to be quite gloomy, dark and rough due to my obsessive love for blacks and browns. I’m considering making more drawings like this in the future.

Mr Charles himself is quite an inquisitive dog. He tends to be very curious and aware of his surroundings, and revels in untangling mysteries and discovering secrets. However, he pays ample attention to making sure he is never overly intrusive, and often upholds a polite, well spoken and calm attitude.
