I hadn't done any Final Fantasy VII fan art in ages - and I pretty much lived and breathed FF7 fanart, fan fiction, and fandom from 1997 to 2004! I replayed the game recently via iOS and it definitely looks and FEELS its age, at this point. But there is still so much memorable characterization and story there. I really can't wait for the remake!
By the way, something I noticed when replaying FF7: When did the mopey Advent Children version of Cloud become the default? Like, mopey Cloud IS there. But Cloud is also flirtatius, kinda' a dick, confident and definitely a cornball in the original game. Granted, there is an in-story reason that he might be acting this way - that these traits might be "out of character" for him. But man-oh-man did they lean really hard into mopey emo Cloud in Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children - and it seems like that version is the one most remembered. Which is a shame, as that's the way less layered and interesting one.
