Description Eilean Donan has had its share of ups and downs. The current structure was built in the 20th century as an approximation of how the castle had appeared in the 17th century. It's been attacked, sacked, and rebuilt numerous times throughout its 700 year history.

Absolutely. It's privately owned, but it's open to tourism whenever the family's not having private events, which are quite rare.
