Description
My part of a trade with ~diddleh c:She wanted something with deer in the style of my other painting Purple Lady (failed in that point, can't recreate). I figured that Lady->King would be fitting, so I tried to implement a feeling of nobility into this one as well.
Stylistic inconsistency put aside, I'm extremely happy with this piece! -What do you guys think? Commenters are loved

Working on it was fantastic; Once the colors were down and the face done, the fur was just alot of mindless wrist-movement. It's great being able to let your mind drift (listening to audiobooks eg) while still being productive~
The only true annoyance: Highly-intelligent!Me didn't realize painting on one layer might become a problem when she gets around to drawing the bg. Another lesson learned.
Next-in-line is lots and lots of painting/coloring practice a la *andreasrocha . Palette Challenge, Landscape Paintings, Game Envionment Fanart, maybe even some Screencap Speeds -hopefully this will further improve my color-choosing skills. :>

I've liked the shading on this since I first saw it. It complements all the little details really nicely. :3
He really does look regal, too, with the angle and the background colour, and how stoic he looks.
And something I just noticed -- is that a little light shining through the thinnest part of his ear?

Since I found out that the last unmarked piece I gave away ended up on some czech Harry Potter RP site, there won't be any images without signature from me, I apologize. The shadow could be removed though, so it's less intrusive/obvious looking

The trick is the saturation: When light shines /on/ a surface the brighter colors will be greyish (desaturated). When it shines /through/ the colors will become saturated. Most noticable in plants and if you put your own fingers on a lamp -that's all there is to it
