They do. Converse ripped off Vans' model and made their own.
Anyway, Converse's fabric is way easier to work with and paint on than Vans' rough one.

I use CD markers, and the grey and blue parts are fabric paint.
I've done some other work on Converse with CD markers, and it's really durable! I have 2 year old pair, and the drawing is still there.
