you manage to get me out of art slumps every time. I look at your art and think to myself, " I need to try harder so I can draw like that"

I know it is a weird question, but is black tea or green tea better for that? (nobody knows here)

What a noble looking creature! Your work is always so fantastical. The paper simply adds to the flavor.

Now those are some kick ass earrings. When making these drawings of strange creatures do you actually stop to think what types of animals do I want to combine or does it just come naturally? Oh and would light colored teas work well for staining paper or no?

did you use just regular paper or did you use some kind of flat (un-textured) heavy duty paper?
i need some ball point pens *fave*

It was a cardstock that I tea stained. I'd not recommend it. I've been fighting to flatten it.

so i'm guessing that when you adding in the tea that it cause the paper to warp and curl up at the edges or did it crinkle up in the center or something?

hibbary In reply to Bionic-Kitty [2010-01-02 21:45:08 +0000 UTC]
It just warped in general. Heavier papers are much easier to blot but this stock is resistant. If I had the right kind of equipment it would be fairly easy. I just need to develop a new method and that means experimentation.

i hate it whenever paper warps, it takes away from the picture a little (or at least the display quality). i need to experiment more with my talents. i have a few canvases around but i'm just frightened about painting because i'm a beginner. i know this is really bad for me to think this way, but since i already expect so much out of myself becuase of the wonders i can do with a pencil, i always plot out complicated peices that i want to paint and i always end up painting something that doesn't look anywhere NEAR what i had in mind >< and since that happens i don't paint even though i know i should to improve my skills as an ARTIST instead of a DRAWER or sketcher

A very rough and simple pencil sketch. :3 And then I started in with ballpoint to fill in all the details and things.

Cool anatomy. Fanciful, yet believable, and a wonderfully expressive face. I like the feather crest, too.
What made you decide to put the bone protrusions just past the elbow joints? They work well, I'm just curious.
