This reminds me of that artist that used to do the painted "Ranger Rick" illustrations. I loved that guy... girl... whatever. Cute, though. Are you drawing them just in really light ballpoint and then darkening it up or are you sketching in pencil and then drawing in bp over it? And what kind of ballpoint is it anyway? One of the cool slick ones or one of the regular bic-type ones?

oh man! did you ever notice that when ever there is a statue of a tanuki, it has GIGANTIC balls?

It must be japaneese folklore or something! Have you ever seen that tanuki cartoon by Miyazaki? it is awesome. It is called
"Heisei Tanuki Gassen Pom Poko"

XD well, the animal has an unusually large scrotum to begin with, and so I suppose they decided to key into that. I have seen Pom Poko. It was extremely depressing.

.... no, not really... the tanuki who could shapechange turned into human beings and did human work, though it was extraordinarily tiring. And those who couldn't scraped by as best they could in their animal form. They said 'not to feel sorry for them', but one could not help but think of the real animals who have to adapt or die out, not pretend, cartoon, shape-changing tanuki. It hardly seemed a happy ending to me.

Hmmm Let me ask you something: This lineart is made with pencil and digitalized, right? Before you color your works do you make another lineart version using photoshop and tablet? Or do you just (I mean...'just' lol...) clean out the dirty in your pencil lineart?

Gah! Curse you for making me educate myself first thing in the morning!! *shakes fist* Had to look up what a tanuki was. First thought was "looks like a raccoon"... then I found they were called raccoon dogs. Are they the critters in Pompoko (the Miyuzaki film)?
