Ugh. I've had this sitting around for a long time, and finally got around to finishing it tonight.The green lion is seen often in alchemy, representing any number of different things, but most often as a green vitriol, a universal solvent (in the minds of the ancient alchemists, anyhow XD ). Here the green lion is shown swallowing the sun (gold).

I remember hearing somehting about a green lion once... however, I thought the person was just plain crazy.
NOW I get it.
But anyways, I find this painting(?) stunning.
The way the lion's face fades into darkness makes it feel like an omni-presence, and I love that the sun is bleeding.

Interesting enough to make me wonder about the symbology. If it wasn't for me having to go to work soon I'd be looking this up. My first thought looking at it would be this idea that the lion's bitten off more than he could chew. ("geh id oph")
