drawings of kelpie. Just for fun. One of the creepy things about kelpie is that they often look like ordinary horses, and can trick a body by seeming innocent. But I felt like giving my kelpie some creepy fangs. Maybe he can retract them like a vampire or something? I don't know XDRelated content

I read somewhere that a way to tell if they're kelpies is their feet. Apparently, they're back to front or something. But if you can get a bridle on a kelpie, you enslave it.

Very nice, I'm actually working on a picture of a kelpie esque horse like thing. Although, it's more of a combo of a large cat of some sort and a horse. So it kinda resembles a kelpie....I just can't find a name for my creature....T-T

so i have to ask the stupid question, wuts a kelpie? i at first had assumed it was a horse w/ fangs but since u said u added fangs... yeah im not so sure now. but neway, i love the full body snarling one and the one where his hairs in his face but hes snarling. great sketches!!

They are a 'real' mythical beast. They live in bogs and swamps and things and lure people into the water by taking the form of a beautiful, strong horse. When people get on, the horse rushes into the water and drowns them. They sometimes take the form of men to I dunno.. seduce women. And you can always tell a kelpie man because they have a bit of weed in their hair from the swamp or whatever body of water they crawled out of XD

well.... I don't know. I think it would depend on the story. In some of them, the kelpie just rides someone into the water to drown them. And in other versions, the kelpie is a carniverous horse who not only drowns them, but eats their flesh once they've been killed. Mine leans towards the second version.

Fantastic work! Your skills in horse anatomy made these drawings all the better. I do think that it's those vacant eyes your kelpies have that give such an imposing feeling. The fluid appearance and movement of these creatures was well done. I espeically love the fangs - it's a great deviation from your average horse.

Arn't they the mythological creature that seems like a horse, and 'acts' like is dieing (Drowning, stuck in a trap, ect.) And then eat the human when it comes to its 'aid'?

Wow! Kelpies! This looks really great. I've never seen kelpie art before. You depicted them really well. Even with the fangs, the one on the bottom right seems almost docile. @_@ I loved kelpies the first time I ever read about them. They're really spiffy. X3

Wow, you have some incredible horse anatomy skills! I love the angle you used for the open-mouthed shot, it looks very terrifying. And the wispy way you drew the mane in really gives a feeling of beauty and grace.
