Grain was ISO but it looks like it was needed. I think the color is a bit too much on the magenta side.

Yeah, at the time I really had no idea how to use my camera or what I was doing. It was all kind of trial and error. Also the time when I was playing around with photoshop. I should fix it now and re-upload. Thanks!

With your new camera it is possible to choose the ISO when not using 'automatic mode'. I use it often when I have to make pictures in 'darker' places and no flash is allowed (musea) or the reach of a flash isn't big enough (churches). This way you can make pictures at a higher shutter speed so there is less or no motion blur.

It's the same feature as with 'classic' film. Normal films are 100 ISO, but in winter I always used 400 ISO so I could make pictures at the same shutter speed but with less light. Or with slower shutter speed but with 4 times more DOF.
Wirh a digital camera it's the same: when you put it on 1600 ISO then you have lots more DOF with the same shutter speed (but more grain in the picture). Of course this only works in manual mode.

correction: with 4 times more DOF should be with 2 'stops' more DOF (which means for instance that you can make a picture with diaphragm 11 instead of 5.6).

The stairs and the "barriers"'s directions make my eyes look at your cousin. Lighting is good.. well done !

WHat kind of lens you had?
I like this, but it makes me sad that the perspective isn't so dynamic.

It could have been more dynamic, if you had used little bit wider lens, so that the girls foot would have looked more massive and the dynamism of the perspective would have been really clear to see. :B
Of course, many of photographers tries to avoid the exaggeration, but I think that it makes it easier to see the point or the idea of the picture.
