Professionally I am a wolf care specialist at a number of sanctuaries. I work with a number of wolves and wolf-dog hybrids. I love what I do, and I thought I would share my passion.Related content

She is a wonderful animal. It is interesting to see how the wolves with different personalities interact with me. I have some who are immediately submissive, some (like her) are more bold but still treat me as a superior, and then I have some who feel that they are equal status. Also, it is interesting to see the difference in the behavior of the females and males when I interact with them.

do you ever come across any that feel that they are more superior then you? and if so how do you show them that you are their alpha so to speak? sorry if these questions bother you im just very interested and im very passionate about wolves.

Well, as a general rule, I do not assert my authority over the wolves. When I encounter wolves who start displaying dominance I will make sure to avoid behaviors that will stir them up (avoiding creating direct eye contact, not using dominant body language, and using a calm voice). Now I do most of this when I am dealing with any wild animal, but if an animal starts showing behavior that may lead to dominance displays, I do my best to alleviate any triggers.

I never thought that I would be where I am today. I got started at a local wolf sanctuary (well, not THAT local, it was an 80 mile drive), I put in as much time as I could, I learned from observation. Then I started my own business so that I could go to schools and teach about wolves. Then I got more involved with different organizations and eventually made my way to where I am now. It is entirely possible. Life is about finding your niche. This is mine.
I am honored to be able to do this, but it was (and still is) ALOT of hard work. You have to pay your dues.

It sounds wonderful truly. I know its going to be a hard work if I want to get there but these beautiful creatures are defently worth it.

I would say the first step is to find a sanctuary that you can visit. There are at least one sanctuary in most countries.

Yeah, I think their will be a few though I doubt they are any close sadly. I will find a way if I really go for it. ^^
