Description These 3 women from a Northern mountain region in Tibet came on their first pelgrimage ever to the holy city of Lhasa. After enduring the travel in the back of a big truck for 3 days they finally made it into the city where they were able to dress in all glory with their one and only "occasion dress" and not to forget the family jewels. When they visited the former Dalai Lama's summerpalace, just outside Lhasa, they encountered a sight that they had never seen before; real flowers. In their amazement they forgot all about protocol of the pelgimage and gazed with amazement to these beautiful "colorfull leaves"!

I got this story because just half an hour before, the Chinese guards wanted to give the first right to us tourists for entering the palace even if these women already were waiting for half a day to get in. Only after me and some companions refused to go in if the Tibetian women were not allowed in at the same time with us, they were allowed in. My Tibetian taxi driver, who was with me, talked to the women later and explained to me why they were so fascinated by the flowers!
