Description
A painting that started out as a quick sketch to find a likeness...took far to long and got bogged down...hence lack of freshness...this is what happens when you don't paint for 5 months

Beautiful. The colors are so varied and yet they create such a coherent image and mood. Even as a sketch, this looks more promising than what many can do with twice as much time and effort.

I like the forward lean of his head; even as a young actor, Cushing always seemed to lead with his forehead... perhaps it added to his creepiness on film. Great colors and spot on likeness.

Thanks, Yeah you're right about the tilt forward of the head...In retrospect one of the reason a bit of the drawing looks wonky is couldn't quite get that tilt I forward / upward form right...limitations of photo reference always flattens the form and space !!
