This is so good. I've been attempting portraits lately and I cannot get it down. The detail and proportions in this are perfect. All the way down to the beard stubble.
My goodness. Do you mind if I ask, what kind of pencils do you use? and how did you learn to do portraits

Hi, first of all, thank you so much for these beautiful words. And don’t worry, I love answering those kind of questions. I use Staedtler pencils (precise product: Mars® Lumograph® 100). 4H and HB for sketching and adjustments. 2B, 4B and 6B for shadows. When it comes to details, I use soft pencils like 4B and 6B, paying a lot of attention at the tip, it always has to be goodly sharpened. Alternatively, you can buy one of those mechanical pencils. About portraits: I don’t know, I’m still learning, to be honest. I just love drawing people a lot, especially their eyes. I’ll give you a simple and typical answer: practice and patience. They’re the only things. By the way, your gallery is awesome and the nicest thing is that you can actually see the progress you are making. Just keep drawing, you have big skills. And thanks again.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I went and bought a set of charcoals and sketch paper. You're right practice and patience are very important. I tried a couple of portraits and they turned out pretty bad. Proportions were all off and everything but I can't let failure stop me. I gotta keep trying

Hey, no problem! Also, if you check a bit out on the internet (also on dA) there are a lot of tutorial on proportions! And really, it’s easier than you could thought! You just need to know a few rules. Never ever stop, friend! That’s the biggest secret. And thanks to you!
