She's a smooth talker. There isn't much she can't wiggle her way out of with her silver tongue and slender figure. Marian is good with people and enjoys having conversations with them. It's plenty of fun so long as you aren't too easily annoyed by her teases.
While she's no Robin Hood she is a giving person. She likes money but she doesn't have a problem loaning or giving out some cash to someone in need. She knows how rough it can be out in the big bad world and she likes it when people owe her really.
Marian really has two modes- smiling and cool headed or on the run. Between fight or flight, in combat or otherwise, this lady very much prefers to take flight. It's not just fights she flees from either but her pas as well. Marian would much prefer to keep her unscrupulous history a mystery to everyone, both for her well being and her future.
Morality has also always been a bit of a gray area for her as well- killing is bad but what if it's in defense of another? stealing is bad but what if you're dying of hunger? She firmly believes that sometimes crime is virtuous (not to say she always commits them for the right reason).

◗History:

The city of Gilead was a clean, wealthy city nestled near the sea. There were no great towers or anything too fancy but it was an attractive place. At least, of you stayed out of its busy red-light district. They called it Cozy, and Cozy was the home of prostitute named Gloria Hald. She'd come running to the city to escape her old home a few years prior. When money started to become a problem she turned to prostitution out of sheer desperation. It was profitable enough until she got more than she bargained for. Gloria was never quite sure but it's possible that the father of her first child, Marienette, was the strapping young Purrloin. It was that same Purrloin that began her dive into an opium addiction that absorbed most of her funds. Little Marie was left to fend for herself most days. The mienfoo learned how to pick the pockets of passerby's in the city pretty quickly. It didn't take much time before she started taking on bigger "marks". It didn't take too long for her to get caught either, inexperienced and clumsy as she was. Marienette Hald was run out of Gilead at fifteen.

The first group she hooked up with was actually a Giratina cult. They weren't thieves but- she took solace in their familial connections when she first joined. There was another initiate named Jude that she grew quite close too. When things with the cult got a bit too real they ran off together. For the next few years Jude and Marienette did small jobs together. Through all the botched jobs, prison breaks, and heists they grew very close. If Marienette had ever been in love with anyone, it was Jude. At some point in their partner ship they joined a band of mercenaries, or raiders really, for a quick job. Their temporary employers, a family by the name Atropa, gave them instructions to pillage a seemingly random town. Warning bells started to go off then and only grew loud for Marienette when she realized it was the Atropa's settlement they were attacking. To make matters worse, she noticed that some of the mercs were dragging people off. She'd been dooped into working with slavers. That night, partially out of a lust for revenge and partially out of a need for justice, she freed the captives. Though she told Jude of her plans he refused to help out of fear of getting caught.

Jude had had a choice to make. In the end, it was his greed that had always ruled him. He sold Marienette out to the Atropa leader, Klaria, and tipped her off to the settlement they planned to lay low it. When they arrived the guards were already there and waiting. Marienette was the only one that was taken in. At Klaria request, she was stripped and beaten publicly. An example was made of her. No one could betray the Atropa and get away with it. She was scheduled to be executed the next day. Almost miraculously, someone broke her out. Sure, it was due to orders rather than the kindness of his heart but Murelo still saved her from a grizzly execution. The band of thieves that had saved her nursed her back to health and demanded she work for them as payment. It worked out well for her. She got to do what she loved and she made a close friend along the way. A very close friend actually, she and Murelo were "thick as thieves" so to speak despite how little she revealed to him of her past.

It was all going so well until she started noticing the wanted posters with her description popping up. If she acted fast she could convince Murelo to leave with her- maybe they'd start their own group- maybe they'd quit heisting altogether. It would have been great, if he hadn't disappeared. Marienette was alone again. At least there wasn't anything stopping her from leaving the group herself. Now after days of traveling, she's determined to start a new life under the name Marian Todd. Hopefully she'll be able to resist the lore of her old life.

In more recent history: she was shot in the leg, captured by horrible monsters, hung off a building, and then turned from a mienshao to a lurantis by a mysterious tar pit. On the bright side, no more bounty hunters will be able to find her based on her old wanted posters so she's content to stay to stay a bug.
