◗Personality:
+Protective +Intelligent +Careful +/-Creative +/-Blunt +/-Quiet -Naive -Humorless -Whiny (in secret)
If Iboni were to be described in one word it would be awkward. She's not much of a people person and it shows. Her interactions with others are brief, blunt, and spoken in a rather monotonous tone. She doesn't mean to be sassy but phrases like "I don't want to talk to you, go away." or "Have you ever considered not talking?" can certainly come across that way. If you can survive that initially awkward, quiet introduction then you may find boundless hours of entertainment in watching her interact with people. All of this, and her lack of knowledge concerning big cities and social conduct is largely due to her secluded childhood in Dusty Village.
The best way she knows to express herself, as you can expect, isn't in words. Iboni loves art and finds it a much better medium to tell people what she's feeling. Like a lot of creative people she's also very clever. She likes to think things through and can usually come up with a decent plan to get through whatever situation is before her- when she's willing to voice them. Her plans, like her art, tend to be pretty abstract and it's hard for people that don't know her well enough to trust her plans to see what the ultimate result will be.
After you've wormed you way into her heart there is no escape. You are now her friend friend for life and she would do most anything for you. Iboni is fiercely loyal to what few friends she has. She'd kill a man for her friends. She'd cross deserts and oceans and dedicate all her time to curing terminal illnesses for her friends. Iboni is the kind of friend that does lots of nice things for her friends without telling them. Don't mention that you need something because you'll end up mysteriously finding just that exactly where you needed it.
Sadly, the more comfortable she is with the more comfortable she also is when it comes to telling you how uncomfortable she is. Is she too hot? You'll know. She might not say it but she huffs and groans until you ask. The same thing happens when she has to wait in line for anything, she's horribly fidgety. When she gets cold, which is very often, she will both whine and curl up against the friend closest to her with no regard for public decency.
◗Home Island: Ruby Island
◗Hometown: Dusty Village
◗History:
Kartek Zahghoul and Aahmes Fahim had a lengthy courtship to say the least. They'd met in childhood, close friends despite the contrast in their personalities. Kartek was jovial and hard to keep still while her eevee companion was far more reserved in his behavior. There was nothing sparked between them when they were still children. When Aahmes was old enough he left Ruby Island to study medicine abroad. It was some years before they reunited to work on a project studying ancient medicine. Somewhere along the way the two fell in love and Kartek Zaghoul became Kartek Fahim. Their first and only child, named Iboni by her father, was born two years later.
Iboni was doomed from birth to be a very lonely child. Her parents, reclusive and as dedicated to their job as they were each other, moved to Dusty Village so that could live closer to the many archaeological dig sites shortly before the birth of their daughter. Needless to say it was boring, and largely friendless childhood for the little eevee. Up until a loud meowthed kid moved to town. Her first words to him were "Get out of my town" and thus her fate was sealed. Lefu was just stubborn enough that he wouldn't take "No" for an answer without a good reason and nine year old Iboni was far too busy to be bothered to drive him away. Busy doing what exactly? Finger painting- on anything and everything she could, quite literally, get her hands on. Lefu became a permanent spectator despite her daily reminders that there were other places he could probably be. Eventually his persistence paid off. He went from hovering pest to chatty bystander to friend within the year and after that they were virtually inseparable. More years passed and the duo reached adolescence. Lefu grew distant for a time. The adults blamed it on teenage angst but Iboni suspected it was something deeper. For a time she let it slide, using the extra free time she had in his absence Suddenly she was the one seeking him out and that didn't sit well with her. One evening she cornered him and the two had a very long conversation about his apparent depression. By the end of it the two had changed in more ways than one- mutual friendship evolution left Lefu a (Alolan) Persian and Iboni an Umbreon. Things were marginally better after that.
More time passed, Iboni and Lefu were now adults and nothing could tear them apart now! Not depression- not long art projects- not sandstorms- not-"I'm dying Iboni." Iboni had been blinded by the news. Lefu had seemed a little off in the months preceding the news but... she hadn't thought it would be that serious. In preparation of breaking the need he'd gotten them a ride to Tincaster and shown her the big city. After a long day of seeing the sights he told her the truth. He was sick and he wasn't getting better anytime soon. None of the doctors in Dusty Village had answers for her, not even a name for the disease much less a cure. Iboni did not take the news well, going through every stage of grief before he'd even died. For a brief time tensions rose between her and her father, one of Dusty Village's permanent doctors. At the time she needed something or someone to blame and sadly Aahmes's doctorate in medicine made him into a target. Passive aggressive jibes were exchanged and distance grew between the two for the first time. In the end, there was nothing that could be done by either of them to help Lefu. This wasn't something she could fix. Then the idea came to her. Maybe someone in the other cities could. It took some time and a lot of hard work but she managed to fix up enough money to travel back to Tincaster in hopes of finding someone that could help. When none of the doctors there could help her she saved up again- and again- and again- She traveled from island to island looking for someone that could save Lefu, her best friend. Eventually she made it to Everstone city and that's where she was when the disaster came. Her nearly year long journey had come to an end. Iboni was able to escape and grave injuries during the disaster but now she was stuck. With no way to contact her family on Ruby Island or realistically return home she was forced to make do in Everstone. She assisted in some of the reconstruction and repair work, adding her own flair to each buidling she laid her hands on. When the guild opened up she figured it was a good a place as any to find work... and work was a good distraction. In the year she spent searching for cure there hadn't been any way for her family to contact her. At the time it had been... a blessing of sorts. She had been able to believe that his condition remained unchanged in her absence. Now, on top of worrying over whether or not illness had killed Lefu she had new fears.
Were any of them still alive?
