Corbin wants to be... respected, admired, maybe even feared-but from a distance. He's not nearly as intimidating after you get to know him. He's awkward to say the least. People are always kept at a distance. Outside of just avoiding any kind of contact with anyone he also employs the Ever Effective Technique of tossing snarky comments at anyone that tries to talk to him. It's the only thing he actually puts effort into. Despite being smart cookie he puts the minimum effort into everything he does, school work especially.
It's tough to peel back his angsty outer shell to find his virtues hiding underneath. With as few friends as he has, he sticks to them like glue. Around people he likes or wants to consider his friend he acts... different, going out of his way to keep them happy with him.

History:

Up, secluded in the mountains near Snowpoint City is the Atropa compound. Its spires and dark stone walls stand in stark contrast against the peaceful, snowy background. This is where Jack Atropa grew up, as the bastard child of the family head, Klaria, he was treated as soemthing of an outcast. The light of his life came in the form of Keri, one of the family maids. Despite his best efforts to drive her away with his eccentricities she stuck around and eventually the two fell deeply in love. This didn't do much to improve the standing within the family. When they found out Keri was with child things only grew more strained. And when Keri went into labor far too early there were whispers among them that "they'd only gotten what was coming to them". The day Keri and their newborn son, a little miracle named Corbin, were well enough to leave he found a place for them far from the main Atropa family.

Corbin was raised in the safety of Celestic town. He was surrounded by history but... not many kids his own age. All he ever really had was his doting parents within that secluded town. It left him feeling deprived but Jack and Keri were content in Celestic Town. Over the years he just got more and more bitter over his situation so of course he did what every bitter child does, he looked for fault with his parents. He found it in Jack- or more specifically, his father's family. He'd never met his father's parents and the gothitelle was more than a little tight lipped about them. No matter how much he demanded to meet them he was turned away. Corbin had a right to know them right? That was his family too right? Jack's mother thought so too, and as if by fate she arrived on their doorstep just as the tension between Corbin and his father reached his peak. The meeting went... Poorly... and Corbin finally understood why his father hadn't wanted Corbin to formally meet his grandmother. The young monferno was quieter after that day. Keri... worried to say the least. In hopes of helping him come out of his shell and find some happiness Keri decided her baby boy should go to camp! It took some convincing but eventually her boys agreed.
