I came up with this idea a long time ago but... various circumstances prevented me from actually doing it. So thus, continues my yearly tradition of finishing a holiday themed pic on Christmas eve.I've always enjoyed the idea of drawing fanart of popular characters doing things that normal every day people do. For instance, Chun Li baking cookies.
Most people draw Samus:
a) kicking ass in her armor
b) getting out of her armor as it opens/explodes, kicking ass
c) getting out of her armor all sexy
d) in her zero suit being sexy
So I figured I'd do a cute Samus Aran pic. I particularly enjoy the Metroid knit cap. ^_^
Here's someone who may or may not be Samus Aran if she were a Disney character perhaps to possibly go skiing.

I really like what you did with Samus in this pic. The idea of what she does when she's not saving the universe has long been pondered, and this actually makes some sense. She would probably use her athletic hunting skills in order to do a fun activity like this.

Thanks! I had planned to do more in this vein... I made a Princess Peach picture where she was a warrior... I have plans to do a Daisy/Peach Steampunk picture too. A long time ago, I drew Chun Li baking cookies. I just like the idea of characters doing things you wouldn't normally see them doing, but could imagine them actually enjoying

^____^ i like it very much so! i had actually done one a long time ago, back when my drawing style in general was a piece of fudgemonkey feces, of her in a garage style thing and she was looking at all the ships she had. had her Prime and Hunters one, Zero mission one, and the space pirate one she took in it. maybe i'll redo it... maybe.

You should! I go back and revisit my old pictures from time to time and redo them in my newer, more evolved style. Styles always change and it's a good exercise to redraw the same pictures just to see how much they change ^_^

By the way, I just thought of this, but it's incredibly arrogant for someone to have a logo that stands for their own name, isn't it? "Oh look at this, see this 'S'? It stands for 'Samus'. That's me. Copyright me. Me, me, me. You like my 'S' insignia? I know you do. That's because it stands for 'Samus', which is me."

I agree that most of the drawings don't really stray too far from the central themes of the character's prime description.
It is also something to note that the reason for this is probably that this comes from the fact that there is no character development in the canonical story line that elaborates on these extra points.
For example here we see Samus skiing. This makes a claim about the character that goes beyond the actual characterization of Samus in that you're suggesting she goes skiing.
However, at some future point it may be stated in the canonical story that Samus lost a friend in an avalanche and has never gone skiing since.
Nevertheless I value the creativity you show here by adding to the character in the areas that are left blank by Nintendo.
As for the image itself I really like it. She looks cute sitting there enjoying the snow. The way you've used the snowflakes to soften the lines really helps to bring out the serenity of the scene.

I made them with hand, they're vectors. ^_^ Everything in that picture is a vector.

Actually, snowflakes are pretty easy to make in vectors... just lots of cloning of objects, rotation, adding, subtracting... kinda like playing with a spirograph ^_^
