there is highlights (which are typically just white or a really light light light version of the base colour. Then regular light, then there are shadows, then the core of the shadow which will be the darkest tone, and then theres a small amount of reflected light usually after that. Test it out on a sphere to figure out the basics and then apply to your work! Once you learn it can be fun to help liven work. This isn't too bad of a job actually.. You just need to remember where your main source of light is and where her shadows will fall.
