I'm a big Celes fan and this is definitely a piece I like. Something seems a bit...amiss about her stance, however.

Yesss! I love it! Nobody ever draws FFVI art... it's always FFVII or FFX.... This was one of the greater games!

Well, I'm a purist, so I prefer to draw characters as they appear in the game....
That's just something I say because it's a good justification for preferring the skimpier, green bodysuit to the tan leather pants and vest!
Of course, I seem to not be alone on that one. A couple months ago I did two Celes pieces-- one in the green bodysuit, and one in the Amano outfit. I think the Amano outfit turned out better, but the skimpier, green one got twice as many views! ^_^
But I like this one very much. The only thing I would've done differently is I wouldn't have made her bodysuit cut as high at the waist. But that's not a technique issue or anything, that's just personal taste.

A very good character to my favorite of the Final Fantasies, 6! Shadow's my ultimate favorite, but I still like Celes a lot.
And funny thing about that Swimsuit; the game's design of Celes was actually TOTALLY different than Yoshitaka Amano's (my favorite artist) design. He designed this beautiful and elegant yellow clothing, but I guess the people at square wanted her to have a more "traditional" general look, so they changed her costume entirely; giving her those shoulder guards, a broader sword (her original sword was curved and resembled a saber; much more elegant) and of course that swimsuit looking thing which was easy to use on the tiny, 2D character sprites.
They actually made quite a few alterations from Amano's original (and far better) designs.
if you're a fan of any oldschool Final Fantasy game, I highly recommend you look up a lot of Yoshitaka Amano's original artwork. It really helps you understand the characters a lot more. To this day, I always use Amano's designs as referrence rather than the in-game versions.

I am not the hugest Celes fan, but this is great work! I agree, bathing suits are probably not the most protective of armors, but all the ladies in early Final Fantasy games seem to be sporting them into battle, like Rosa in her golden bikini XD.
