Description
B A S I C S:
Name: Citrinitas
Nicknames: Citrin, Citrus
Name meaning: Citrinitas, or sometimes xanthosis, is a term given by alchemists to "yellowness." It is one of the four major stages of the alchemical magnum opus. In alchemical philosophy, citrinitas stood for the dawning of the "solar light" inherent in one's being, and that the reflective "lunar or soul light" was no longer necessary. The other three alchemical stages were nigredo (blackness), albedo (whiteness), and rubedo (redness).
Gender: Intersex, they/them

Birthday: September 13th
Starting Age:6 years and four months
Current Age:6 years four months
Species: 50% clouded leopard and 50% lynx
Physical Description:
Citrinitas is built like their lynx parent, stocky and broad. They have round ears with tufts, and curly fur that flows down their face, back, and legs. This fur is prone to tangles, and they take the utmost care to prevent leaves, sticks, and mud from ruining their fur. However, they’ve lived long enough to know how to untangle and wash their fur if the worst happens. Their tail is short and spotted, and they have inherited clouded leopard spots. Their eyes are light blue, and their nose, pawpads, and inside of ears are pink.
Traits:
Dominant: Tufted ears, grey fur, blue tinted spots, white ear fluff, blue eyes
Recessive: White underbelly, white legs, clouded leopard splotches, pink nose
Carrier: Red eyes, brown undercoat, long tail
Mutations: Wooly
Rank: Order of the River (Scholar)
Specialty: Alchemy
They have a unique interest in a variety of metals and rocks. After watching their owner practice it for a matter of years, they are quite comfortable preforming different experiments on rocks. Their main goal is for something to happen to the rocks, which leads them to dumping rocks in water, or any other special substance they get their paws on. Most rock colors look brighter and interesting when wet, and some even fall apart. If anything particularly amazing happens in their experiments, they may let the blacksmiths use the rocks in armor.

Positive Personality Traits:
{intelligent}-{gentle}-{independent}
Intelligent:
As someone who had researched and studied for so many years, knowledge is swimming in their mind. While they will not lie and claim to know all that is out in the stars, they are without a doubt incredibly smart. Survival techniques have been well ingrained into them, and while they were never the fighter, even they know the basics. In their younger years, they had even been taught to pick locks. Their mind is built for figuring out puzzles and tricky situations. However, their intelligence fails at emotions and relationships with others.
Gentle:
Citrinitas has had to work with the most delicate of test subjects. Dehydrated spiders and roaches can fall apart so easily, if too rough. It is the most frustrating thing to have a rare material and ruin it, thus making your whole experiment useless. After so many failed experiments, they had no choice but to learn how to treat their things better. Now it rarely happens and has been so ingrained on them that they are good at handling cubs, organizing prey piles, and tidying herbs without breaking them.
Independent:
While they lived their entire life with a human master, they never needed her to survive. They are accustomed to working alone, but it is not always preferred. They enjoyed researching alone with their master, but the same cannot be said as of cats. Simply put, they’ve never met another cat who was quite as obsessed with research as them. Working with a human wasn’t the same as a feline, mainly in communication. Even not being able to understand a human’s language, it was a challenge to understand what they were trying to say. The same challenge wasn’t there with cats. Citrinitas knows how to catch their own prey, and find shelter in an emergency.
Neutral Personality Traits:
{competitive}-{private}-{unpredictable}
Competitive:
Citrinitas enjoys a friendly rival or two, and they feel that a life with no competition would be no life at all. After all, collecting samples for an experiment wouldn't be as interesting if you were trying to collect more than someone else. They get addicted to the high of winning a competition and can be prone to bragging to others about their accomplishments. Of course, there are always things that Citrin will never excel at. It would be almost impossible for them to beat someone at a pure strength battle, even if they use their wits to the best of their ability. Just because they may be unlikely to win, that never stops them from trying. They aren't usually a sore loser but can get mopey and depressed if they haven't won anything in quite some time.
Private:
Citrinitas doesn't tell many secrets. They're aware that any cat, no matter how close and trusting, can betray you. It happened a few times in their children, enough to make them wary. While they don't enjoy lying to others about their past, they try to stretch the truth as much as possible. Citrinitas doesn't know if the secrets they keep could cause others to betray them, but they would rather be safe than sorry. If Citrinitas believes a friend to be trustworthy, they will test their hypothesis, by using small, unremarkable secrets. If they spread rumors, or tell others, Citrin knows they are not worthy of anything else.
Unpredictable:
The only predictable thing about Citrin is that they are very strange. If they found an amphibian in their territory, you never know if they are going to study, eat, or dissect it. They do not enjoy living their life through strict routines and can change their mind in a moment. You really never know what's going to happen when you speak to them. They don't even do it on purpose to fool their enemies, they naturally think and act nearly unhinged.
Negative Personality Traits:
{cold}-{destructive}-{petty}
Cold:
Citrinitas does not warm up to others easily. Emotions aren't their strong suite, which makes them incredibly aloof. This makes them seem unfriendly to newcomers, especially since they speak in a monotone voice on most days. Making friendships isn't their priority though, so it doesn't bother them when others believe them to be rude and unfriendly.
Destructive:
As gentle as they are most days, when they get overwhelmed and frustrated, they often find a secluded place. If you ever stumble upon an area with grass torn up, broken tree branches, and scratches scoring the trees nearby, you might have just found Citrin's rage spot. They are incredibly private about this and would never let anyone know. They believe it helps keep their emotions in check. In their younger days, their destruction episodes were more often, and they caused more damage. If anyone ever found them, they would likely threaten them and swear them to secrecy.
Petty:
Citrinitas always remembers those who slight them. They can hold a grudge for a long time and have a difficult time forgiving others. If you did something personal to them, don't expect them to ever speak to you again. Something small, and more forgivable, and you might just find slimy slugs in your den for the next week. They have a vast knowledge of flora and fauna, and know which insects are the most annoying. However, they rarely would attack anyone outright. They do not prefer direct confrontation.
B A C K S T O R Y:
Citrinitas was not born. They were created. At least, that’s what they believe, because they have no memories of either parent. If they cannot remember them, did they even exist? However, what they do remember is a human. The human who owned, trained, and cared for them.
It was always obvious. This human was the creator.
_____
- Citrinitas' mother died shortly after giving birth to them and their siblings. It was only due to their owner's quick-thinking that they even survived.
- They spent the first six months of their life with little contact with other cats, which led to them being emotionally distant.
- They began training with another feline so they could be their owner's personal assistant.
-Their owner practiced alchemy, and it became Citrinitas' job to carry extra materials and valuables in their satchels.
- They spent over five years with their owner, and was closer to her than any other cat in the city.
- Citrin was naive as an apprentice, and let secrets loose to the wrongs cats. They have hardened with age, and don't trust many cats.
- Approaching their sixth birthday, they noticed their owner was acting strangely. Looking over her shoulder, hiding items in strange places, and surprisingly jumpy.
- They weren't sure what their owner had gotten involved in, but it couldn't be good. They understood it had taken a turn for the worse when their owner started packing stuff away.
- Citrinitas wasn't loyal to the city, however, they were loyal to their owner. They would follow them anywhere.
- However, it seemed that they weren't meant to travel together. One night, she removed most of the valuable metals that Citrin always carried on them and snuck them towards the city wall late at night.
- She was arrested as Citrinitas watched in dismay, for crimes that they would never know. They had no choice but to run, for they knew they could not spend their life in jail, or with an unfamiliar human.
- They found an uninhabited tree stump to live in, where they spent a few weeks fending for themself.
- They found a group of cubs without their parents and recused them from a situation that would have otherwise killed them.
- Their simple, quiet life soon became loud and chaotic. Citrinitas figured they would eventually find a proper parent for these cubs, for they were not proper parent material.
- They found themself becoming attached to the young cubs but figured it would be better for them to have proper parents.
- A lighting empire patrol found them while they were searching for food for the two cubs- and after a long discussion, they decided to join the empire. However, they weren't sure if it would be safe for the two growing cubs, so they left them in a safe space until they made a decision on the safety of camp.
