Okay, for starters, I feel weird about posting this since I feel like it's not my best work technical-wise, but... I think the sort of raw, imperfect look to it suits the subject...But anyway, I had the concept in mind for a while now. (I apparently do that a lot...)
It's human nature to be selfish. There is nothing anyone can do to change that.
But.
Not all acts of selfishness are necessarily bad; some are with good intentions.
These three scenes stood out to me the most in regards to that, each in different ways.
But I'd rather not explain every single aspect of this; interpret it your way.

All three of them were willing to sacrifice their life, in one way or another. It is selfish. But beautiful, at the same way.
I had to look up the last one. I had forgotten how much Gai loved Lee. Once you think about it, it is extremely selfish in what it would do to Neji and Tenten. They lose their teammate to another nin, and even if Gai just meant that a part of him would die with Lee, then they go through their training with a sensei who's you know, missing a part of his soul. Or dead. Yeah. Not fun.
But a good fanfic idea. *is rightfully shot*

When we act for others, we still consider our own happiness and sometimes even end up hurting other people whether we realize it or not.

I notice that these two girls get the brunt of the hate in the fandom and those two scenes that I brought up here are used against them a lot.
And the thing with Gai was a bit different but still falls under this same category.
I even strongly doubt he would've gone through with it because he still has his obligations to his friends, other students, and village. But I can understand why he'd say that; even if they were lying, it'd make me feel pretty good if someone I loved and admired like that would die for me regardless of how much I wouldn't want them to.

Sakura for sure, but Hinata might be out hated by Karin.... it's sad how she's collected so much hate with her much lesser screen time then many of the MALE characters.
But Hinata gets it too. And it's stupid. And yeah I'm lookin' at you NaruSaku fans.
Gai doesn't get much hate or insults, but his good character is a bit overlooked.
Cause he's a rarity alright...

They see another girl near the boy the like in an anime, and it's automatically "YOU BITCH!" Or they get in the way of a couple it's "YOU BITCH!"

Yeah, some good NaruSaku fans don't hate Hinata.
But also, some hate Sasuke. And/Or Hinata. And then go ship SasuHina. Which racks my nerves. A. LOT. Come on.
I love SasuHina as a CRACK pair, not as something NaruSaku fans try to go ship off as a side ship.
Most of Hinata's hate comes from them. SasuNaru fans to, but they are to busy hating Sakura and sometimes Karin.
As I think you know, I LOVE SasuNaru. But the fandom is just... bleh. I'll stick to Japanese fanart and doujinshi where the hate is A LOT less plentiful.
Yeah, characters that are popular tend to be hated and loved.

Hinata not being in love with Sasuke ... um, I love Sasuke so her not loving him was like.... I thought it was cute that she liked Naruto, but I couldn't relate to her, ya know? :/ I'm all tough and temperamental, she's all shy... I couldn't relate to her like I do Sakura and Temari. But I still like her...

I love your art... You give recognition to people and events that are sometimes overlooked in a very beautiful, but simplistic fashion.
With Hinata, it is interesting because I think her journey has been to learn to become more selfish. She was forever trying to do what everyone else wanted her to do and failing at that. She needed to find HER path and HER own goals because she needed to find a reason to believe. Her Father's path didn't work or did a path like Neji's. Hinata needed to find a path that worked for her that aligns with her own personal beliefs. She isn't the type to do something if she doesn't believe in it.

A certain amount of selfishness is actually very necessary to live. Because if you don't live for yourself and take care of yourself, how can you hope to help anyone else?
