EDIT : I had given away my rights to this illustration for the book for 6 months, and I'm pleased to say that from today on this illustration will be up in my shop
It's available here : www.inprnt.com/gallery/holly/ This is a tribute illustration I was requested to make for a project in which I was lucky enough to be a guest artist
As you’ll have guessed I’m sure, the tribute is to Disney animation studios ! As a kid and teen I loved the animated classics passionately, and as a budding artist I admired their animators to no end. This admiration has been painfully obvious in my style for a long time in the past, and it took many other influences, trips, artists and experiences to later broaden it, which enabled me to give it a much more personal turn and make it my very own Sadly I do not own all this wonderful merchandise XD But I really wanted to drop hints to all my favorite movies and characters. Guest starring Duncan MacLeod, my corgi, and the Treasure Planet poster that has graced my room since the day I saw the movie in theaters in 2002.

Mickey mouse earrings, tigger toy, scrump toy, poison apple mug, genie mug, Aladdin lamp bag, tinkerbelle mug, tangled sun mug, Mickey mouse pen that's red and gold, minnie mouse pen that's blue,pocshontas themed pen in the poison apple, rupunzel funkopop, Ariel funko pop, lady toy, Cheshire cat toy, minnie mouse mirror, flounder tsum tsum, Cinderella statue, beauty and the beast statue, alien fron toy story figure, Disney collection of DVDs, Mickey mouse toy, treasure planet poster, mushy poster and possibly jiminney crickets hat. Is that everything? Or am I missing something?

I see Tigger, Scrump from Lilo and Stitch, Genie on a cup next to another cup that's designed like the poison apple from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Another cup with the same design of Esmerelda's sash from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, next to the cup with a picture of Tinker Belle on it. I also see a plush of Micky Mouse in the background, with Lady from Lady and the Tramp, Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, and mini-dolls of Ariel and Rapunzel.
On the shelf, there's a mirror which resembles Minnie Mouse, next to a figurine of Cinderella, with a small figure of Flounder next to her. Above, there's Beauty and the Beast. A small little alien from Toy Story standing on top of some books, which I regret to inform I can't read the side to identify what they are.
But behind the curtain, I see my favorite dragon from Mulan, Mushu!

I think you did ! There's also the tote bag with Genie's lamp but you already mentioned Genie on the mug. Actually the cup doesn't feature Esmeralda's sash, but now that you're mentioning it I should have totally gone for that instead ! It's actually the sun symbol from Rapunzel's hometown

This picture reminds me of my sister and that alone makes me instantly fond. Taking into account your skill as an artist and you eye for detail... just wow. You have left me awed. I had so much fun taking the time to make sure I caught all the little references or bits of merch that were just so easy to relate to like mugs holding stationary (my mad hatter mug holds my lip glosses and the odd pen so I can keep track) or the bag slung over the back of the chair with the print on it. Honorable mention to the massive treasure planet poster, I hate how unappreciated comparatively that film is considering it is one of my favorite disney movies. Anyways it made for a pleasant surprise seeing some one not only give the film a nod but also make it a focus. Anyways I am glad to have found this piece, going to view your other work now so thanks for sharing.

Impressive! I love that you are using your distinctive style in this very pretty self-portrait. I admire your work and your appreciation for the magic of Disney. I am sure that I could go on and on about every Easter Egg and reference here, but I will simply state that I feel like I understand you a little better.
