Description
She was not only wife of Kaiser Franz Joseph but she was very fond of Hungarians and our Country. Sometimes the press mentioned the ruler and his wife as "The Kaiser and the Queen" which shows the special relationship between the Hungarians and their beloved Queen. Her statue now located at the western (Buda side) end of the bridge named after her—she'd been moved from the square named after her, to give back her place of a fountain that once stood there (afaik).
This portrait is of the statue at Erzsébet-híd (Elisabeth Bridge—the white one). The radiant halo around her head is the Moon.
