So it seems to have become a sort of unofficial Thing that I paint some assortment of Vicky's pony characters every year for her birthday. :'3 It was previously Guide-themed, but since she has a lot of radcool pony characters these days I thought I'd mix it up.

So here we have Skullcandy ! Being a badass with a gigantihuge tail. :'B Pose was reffed from the assortment of jousting photos I've mentioned before. Sadly of course they did not have stripy fire for manes, more's the pity.

Pens, watercolours, inks and salt on 300gsm watercolour paper. DAT SHIT HEAVEH. Pony was drawn, inked and then masking-fluided to within an inch of his life before I ATTACKED THE PAPER WITH A GIANT BRUSH and a mix of indian ink, vermillion ink and a bit of watercolour. For quite a while in the end. There's actually direction to it. xD; AND THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY I SPRINKLED SALT ON IT. (Which was actually deliberate. xD Made the spackly texture there. *Points*) Then pony was demasked and underpainted in a fetching shade of pink red, and then I PAINTED HIS ASS. And like, the rest of him. Then added the stripes in his mane and tail, which in retrospect I think may be a little thin, I am sorry. ;A;

But yes! I am pretty durn happy with how this turned out. :'3 I've been itching to try the salt technique out on proper paper that can take a proper wash, and it was really interesting to see how the indian ink and vermillion inks interacted. And it was mondo fun to do firehair again, but OH GOD SO MUCH LINING. AND SO MANY CORNERS FOR THE MASKING FLUID. But yes! Imma shuttup now. I like it, and I really hope Vicky does, of course. And she has the original now, so IT IS OUT OF MY HANDS. ♥
