A lot of players see Grunt as their Shepard's adopted son; which would make Wrex Grunt's "Godfather".
Not doing so would make GruntΒ Wrex's adopted son instead, with Shepard being the Godfather by default.
Godfather: a man who serves as sponsor for a child; any male sponsor or guardian. An "adopted father" should be self-explanatory.
