Ohhhhh .... Thank you so much Danijela.

At first I was thinking ... uh oh ... I'm not a woman ... but then I saw that is was about art featuring the female form.

I'm honored.

Truly amazing sculpture John. The flow, the softness of the curves, the pose, everything works and if I had the money I'd defiantly want a cast of it. Amazing stuff man. I agree with Mia, you are a professional whether you like it or not

Thanks Wes. I still need to sculpt a little conch shell for he to be reaching for before I'm done. We'll see how my financial situation goes this year. Maybe I'll be able to get it cast, but first I need to get a quote from a foundry.

I'm with demondes wondering what you did to support this piece. It's So incredibly graceful. And it doesn't appear off balance in the least, with all of the weight being up and off to one side. This is just beautiful.

I responded to Miia's question mainly by giving her links to my progress through the mermaid and my bear sculpture.

A good way to support things like this is with heated copper wire that hardens into place after youve bent into position. I've explained how to do it on the second page of my mermaid tutorial. I still wish that i'd doubled up the wire on the lower part of the armature to have been able to have her off on an even wilder angle, but it's too late now. I'll know for next time.

Here's the link to the mermaid's progress > [link]

and to my bear sculpture's > [link]

Enjoy.

Absolutely fantastic. I love her smooth lines and delicate fenotype. If you have time to answer, I would like to know that did you use something to give her "spine" (forgive me my bad outcome), to support the weight of plasticine?

My works usually drop dead in that phase when I start o put material to supporting ironwire. It collapses, so I tought that I make huge mistakes. I usually left it there. Now that almost real size compsognathus (small therapod dino) is just plain wire skeleton in my shelf.

Hi Miia,

Of course I don't mind letting you in on part of what works.

I'm attaching you a link of my progress of this one for you to even better see how I work. > [link] ageNum=1&MaxRows=999

The main thing is to use copper wire that you have heated. I explain it in detail in that link. Other than that you can double or tripple up the thickness of your main wires and use other objects to support your work. Wood, metal piping, pretty much anything you want to put underneath that will support the clay surface. Here's another link to a bear sculpture that I've done as well to show you what I put underneath as a support. It was pieces of ojects that I found in my garage. Nothing fancy, but it did the job of giving the sculpture a solid base. > [link] ageNum=1&MaxRows=999

I hope helps you some, and feel free to ask me more questions if you want more advice.

I have tried to look several "This-is-how-u-do-it" -pages about sculpting, but best ways to learn is by trying and making mistakes and such a great professionals like you, who have spare time to give a hint to us amateurs

I like to see more of your sculpting works

but thanks for your kind words. I'm happy to share what I've learned with you, and I'll definately be doing more sculptures soon.
