Description Male tundra wolf, Dancing Turtle, from The Wolf Mountain Nature Center in Smyrna, NY.  This photo is actually very out of character for this usually broody alpha male.  The strong wind in the trees drew his attention upward for a moment and the fall leaves behind him resulted in a gorgeous backdrop.

Very nice! The focus was right on, making the background looking a little bit surreal. The fall colors also reflect on his white fur, adding a warm tone to his expression. Looking at this picture, you wonder where he is and what he's looking at. On a less serious note, he also looks really really fluffy :3
I can't help going back to the background. It was focused perfectly. You can see the leaves, but you can also see a hint of fence. This picture could almost represent something more, the inner longing for freedom, even when things are beautiful.

Thank you very much for the critique.  The background and curious expression were what made me personally like this photo enough to post.

The fence is something I always struggle with... I can make it almost disappear but in the end, it is always there.  Of course, I count myself fortunate because I chose to take a walk around the perimeter of their habitat (which is 9 square acres) and the pack actually decided to join me.  Although there was a fence between us, the wolves seemed just as excited as me to be taking the walk and I feel as though some of that excitement shows through in Dancing Turtle's expression.  To me, though, the fence also represents a division in outlooks.  Though we both see and somewhat understand each other, we also live in very different worlds.  Sometimes I find myself wishing we could go back to appreciating the simple things that wolves are content to have in their lives, food, family and safety.
