Jim Kjelgaard wrote the books Big Red, Irish Red, and many other beloved books about Irish Setters. I read everyone when I was a girl many many times. His books along with Albert Payson Terhune's books were my favorites. No TV, just 10 books a week thank you very much. I bought many of these books when I got older so I could own them and reread them. My first dog was sweet Rosy O'Grady. Rosy for short, and a lovely, fun loving, ditsy Irish Setter. I know books are the reason for me loving animals so much.
