Description 12" X 15" Transparent Watercolor of a Rooster and Daffodils painted on Arches Hot Press 140lb. watercolor paper. This time I painted the flowers first so I didn't have to worry about the bright colors of the rooster's comb and tail bleeding into the flowers or background. Plus I wanted to take more care and time with the flowers so they were more detailed, and had more light and shadows on them. I like the results, and next I think I will paint Dutch Iris. I can't bend my knees to plant spring flowers as I have for the last 40 years so I guess now it's time to paint all the spring flowers I love. This one is for =mssbehave who is in a time of transition, hurt her back, and needs some flowers to spread some cheer.

I worked harder on this one, and painted all the flowers and background first. Then I painted the chicken, and saved the eye and comb for last. I wanted to see if I could paint the flowers tighter and with more graphic shadow colors. I like the intensity of the yellow also, and achieved it by putting Paynes gray into the Cad Yellow Medium paint. That is what caused the bright pure yellows to look brighter. I learn something new every day, if I'm willing to fail or just mess up. Thanks for the encouraging comment!

This is probably my favorite rooster painting. I too like the yellow, and how it works in this painting. Thank you!!!
