Thursday night was 'experimental Thursday' on stream, and I decided to try some new techniques for scales on my dragons. For this dragon, I tried chopping up tiny bits of translucent green clay, which quickly started to look like more like little crystals than scales. So I made some more defined crystals for the wings, legs, and head and now it's looking like a rock candy dragon to me. Even if it wasn't what I'd originally pictured, I am pleased with the result. ^^
Crafted from colored Premo polymer clay, glass beads, acrylic paint. This dragon has found a home, but you can still visit the Etsy listing to view additional photos.

But in short, I think the key is to cut the clay so that it has sharp edges. Cut the clay at the right angles, and it starts to look crystalline.

Not quite, I think of the inside of a dragonfruit as more white than gray. This is Premo's Gray Granite clay - it's supposed to look like stone.
