A couple of tricks...instead of making the hand flat colored inside the power field, try reverse lighting it; making it appear that the hand is being affected by light around it so that the interior is covered in shadow. Like this for example. Not the best example I could think of, but it was an epic struggle finding an image that showed some semblance of what I'm talking about through searching.

My regular inks bite! I'll leave that to the pros. This way I can close paths and then I am able to use the magic wand tool for flatting. It gives it a cleaner look.
