Description Here's a quick painting of Bernkastel from the Umineko series. It took me at least 5 hours or so to create this piece in Photoshop with a mouse. After doing that "Doodle 4 Google" piece, I've come to appreciate doing the rough but colorful shading technique. A part of me thinks I should stick to this particular style of digital painting, but I also feel that I should try other techniques first. What do you guys think?

Very nice, the colors and her shrouded in shadows are very mysterious. Been watching the series I think so far I'm on episode 8 or 9 I think? It's very interesting.

What do you think of the plot in general? Are there any particular characters that caught your interest?

The plot was interesting. But I'm constantly anticipating some kind of Sherlock Holmes logic to follow the main guy and unravel the mystery. But nonetheless I'm addicted to see what happens. Because in the end of every episode, you can only expect the unexpected. Also I notice in Anime there is a fascination with European-style of antiquity and decoration. I mean, I caught on to this a long time ago with the lolita and all that. But it's very apparent in this. Naruhi was my favorite, the woman with the shotgun? I still haven't seen what happened after some of the characters were suddenly revived. I still have to continue watching soon, school just started so I got distracted hehe

I myself became intrigued by the plot of the story the moment I first saw the anime. Also, I'm glad you noticed that this tale is a mystery since the first four games (also known as the "Question Arcs") are disguised as fantasy to fool the readers/watchers. It's a shame they didn't animate the last four parts of the visual novels (referred to as the "Core Arcs") which revealed plenty of hints to solve the mystery. If you've already watched all 26 episodes of the anime (which focused on EP1-EP4), then you may want to read up on the visual novel for EP5 right here: [link]

While Natsuhi is once again a prominent character in this part of the visual novels, you may not like some of the things she has to go through. Trust me, there's a lot of drama here if you've decided to watch it.

ahhh I will definitely continue at some point this week then. Since school started I know I'll definitely be preoccupied by a lot of stuff. I tell you Aren, so far after the transfer, it hasn't been easy. But work hard always pays off. There's a like a new degree of expectations in this art department.

So I'll get to those 26 episodes soon. Ahh! Natsuhi, that was her name. Hehe thanks Owh man, are they gonna kill her off a few times

And by the way, the visual novels are classified more as "sound novels" since they put a lot of emphasis on the music tracks and sound effects rather than the graphics. Not to worry though, they already made a PS3 version for the novels. Here are the openings for both the Question and Core Arcs.

I love the rougher colouring and drawing style, I incorporate it into my drawings a lot when I do digital work. You've done it really well here, especially with the crystals in the background. It's always great to try new techniques, but of course there is always going to be a particular favourite ^^

I like the color palette, and it's an interesting picture, but I think it's a bit too blurry. If you like the blurry effect, I'd at least try to get the areas in the light a bit sharper, and as the picture recedes into the dark, keep the blurry effect. Otherwise, it has a nice atmospheric effect.

I see. If that's the case, I'll try to sharpen the highlights in my next digital painting. Thank you very much for the feedback.
