I have never, ever played a Final Fantasy game. Ever. It's not that I didn't want to... It's just... well I thought the NES one was boring as a kid, and when they moved to Playstation, I couldn't play them because im a Nintendo kid.
But that doesn't stop me from wanting to play them some day. I did play Both Kingdom Hearts games on my Brother's PS2. I liked those... but funny enough, I really didn't like ANY of the final fantasy characters.
I love all things Batty, so, I drew a Moogle. Which if I am correct, the japanese name means "Mole Bat" ...These things...black mages...white mages...and chocobo are really lovable characters I would imagine.
It's a shame that Moogle, as far as I can remember, didn't appear in the anime, Final Fantasy Unlimited, which I loved.

I would recommend Final Fantasy 6, especially the remake for the GBA. Of course, if you want to dig the music, you simply MUST play the SNES version instead. GBA version has various bug fixes though and runs better 
I heard they were remaking it for the DS but that might just be speculation...
btw, FF3 on the DS is just as boring as the original for the NES

Well, you should still try out some FF-games on the DS if you have the chance. I recommend FF-III if you haven't.
